Kennedy Collegiate’s environmental group, known as RiverKeepers, will be going to court with Michigan’s power company DTE Energy has been, claiming they’re “damaging quality of life and public health care” by dumping mercury into the Canadian side of St. Clair River. RiverKeepers also claim that the downwind from Detroit is another potential explanation for our extremely high pollution and cancer rate.

The Kyoto Protocol is an international agreement, signed by 141 nations to help fight against global warming. The U.S. and Australia were the only countries not to sign on the Kyoto Protocol and therefore they do not have to abide by its laws. They obviously had a big reason not to sign, could it be they don’t want to get sued when their pollution is ending up in other countries?
